HELP INDUCT BERNIE TAUPIN INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME

HELP INDUCT BERNIE TAUPIN INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME AS A LYRICIST IN THE NON-PERFORMERS CATEGORY.

Singer-Songwriter and Pianist Elton John and his songwriting partner, Lyricist Bernie Taupin, were both inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992, but only Elton John was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in 1994. This does not make any sense whatsoever. If there had not been a Bernie Taupin, there would not have been an Elton John and vice versa. Their music was a collaborative effort. Bernie Taupin should have been inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame back in 1994 as a Lyricist in the Non-Performers category, the same year that Elton John was inducted.

Bernie Taupin didn’t just write lyrics exclusively for Elton John. Bernie Taupin also wrote the lyrics for songs performed and recorded by Ringo Starr, Rod Stewart, Cher, Alice Cooper, Melissa Manchester, Derringer, The Motels, Starship, Heart, Animotion, John Waite, Martin Page, Peter Cetera, Courtney Love, Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris, as well as for his own singing career, both as a solo artist and as a member of his own late-1990s Country-Western band, The Farm Dogs.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin comprise one of the longest running and most successful songwriting teams of all time. Bernie Taupin’s 40 years of collaborative work with Elton John alone should qualify him for the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. Please induct Lyricist Bernie Taupin into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame in the Non-Performers category. His induction is long overdue.

Sir Elton John is playing in Duluth Friday. Local fans know going to his concert, is an opportunity of a lifetime.
As crews finished setting up equipment, fans were counting down the minutes till showtime.
Karen Makowski, an Elton John fan, said "I don't know how they got him here, but it's wonderful!" She said she's been listening to him since high school.
Makowski wore a pink Elton John t-shirt and decorated finger nails to prove it. She paid hundreds for some of the only tickets available, after choosing to use a random ticket sales website. "I paid about $650 for two seats," she said.
Despite the price, Makowski feels lucky to have found the tickets, and said it's worth the money to see the rockstar live. Her seat was in row 40-something on the floor. They're seats that seem plenty close to the stage, but Makowski admits, she may not stay there. "If i don't like the seats i've been known to sit in the aisles," she said.
Mickey Pearson paid a bit less for his seats--about $300 for two tickets. He said it was out of his price range, but couldn't turn down the show. "
We're really excited," Pearson said. "Big production shows I'm interested in don't often come to Duluth."
Amsoil staff told Eyewitness News the arena's 8200 seats sold out within 42 minutes of going on sale in February, with exception to a few. Pearson was lucky enough to snag a couple."We actually had a friend of a friend who works at the DECC that was able to secure some tickets," he said.
Both Pearson, and Makowski said they never spend this much on tickets, and probably won't again, but when Elton John is in town, it has to be done.

Also meeting Sir Elton was International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell, whose department has worked with the Foundation on projects overseas.
The Department for International Development said that the discussion focused on the Foundation's work and the Government's commitment to tackling HIV/Aids.

Elton John concert venue will have four mile parking exclusion zone
CONCERT-GOERS attending this summer’s Sir Elton John gig in Shrewsbury will be banned from parking in residential areas within four miles of the venue, council officials said today.
Shropshire Council said motorists will be stopped from parking close to the Greenhous Meadow Stadium in Oteley Road on June 12 when the legendary singer arrives for his first concert in the town.
About 17,000 people are expected to attend the event at Shrewsbury Town FC’s ground but council officials are warning people they should not even be dropped off or picked up by cars in residential areas near the stadium.
Shrewsbury Town and the council have released details of the available car parking options for concert-goers.

Travel plan revealed for Shrewsbury Elton John concert

Shrewsbury Town Football Club and Shropshire Council have today released details of a travel plan for the upcoming Elton John Concert on 12 June.

The plan is devised to ensure concert goers are able to access and leave the event with the greatest ease and minimum delay, whilst managing disruption to residents in the area surrounding the stadium.
As part of the traffic management strategy a section of Oteley Road will be closed to general and through traffic for the duration of the event and enforceable on-street parking restrictions will be in force in all surrounding residential areas within approximately a four-mile radius of the stadium.
Concert goers will not be able to park in these areas and walk to the event.
Arrangements are in place for local residents’ parking exemptions but all concert ticket holders, travelling to the concert by car, are strongly advised to purchase a car parking ticket prior to the concert date.
Parking passes are available for purchase at £8 per car, guaranteeing a parking space at one of the many “Park and Walk” sites within 10 minutes walking distance of the stadium.
Any blue badge holders getting a lift to the concert or who intend to travel to the concert by taxi will need to bring their Blue Badge with them in order to be let into the stadium.
Those who have purchased one of the event’s “hospitality” options, which includes a parking space at the stadium, but intend to be dropped off or travel to the event by taxi will also need to bring their parking passes to be able to pass the road closure in Oteley Road.
Wheelchair users who have purchased a concert ticket need to contact the Shrewsbury Town Ticket office – details of the ticket bought will need to be given in order to purchase a disabled parking space at the stadium (ticket details will indicate a wheelchair seat allocation). Blue badges must be available on the day of the concert for inspection.
A Park and Ride facility will also be in operation at the Oxon Park and Ride site, on a pre-booked basis.
To purchase car parking tickets call the hotline on 01743 273943 or go to www.shrewsburyfc.talent-sport.co.uk, where you should click on the away tab and choose your selection. The deadline for postal applications is Tuesday 7 June.
